The subconscious depressive feeling started to pull me down with no warning to flee,
It avoiding my tired attempts of dismissal as it inhaled all my energy,
What they can’t see is only happening to me,
Sinking in a toxic sludge like a prisoner to my lack of clear thoughts,
The daunting task of an uphill escape from my mind now distraught,
I needed some kind words, to be rest assured sharing my notions unheard,
My absurd, blurred perception which stirred inside, slurred out as a response was spurred,
My thoughts and internal shouts ricochet back at me, an echo from a conscious club occurred,
Now, what I share is not only happening to me, but us,
What I once abused, misused while inhaling all my broken practices, destructive,
The conscious cannabis club has helped me exhale, not fail, while now being productive.

Robert Potter is an Irish poet, writer and audio engineer living in Dublin.
His first poetry book will be published this summer. He believes writing, music and any creative output are the key to dealing and coping with depression and anxiety. He is also a “lightweight” when it comes to weed so he enjoys only a small toke or two on the weekends to help unwind, or to help gain focus for any/all creative outputs.
